Sharpening a Chain
Procedures for sharpening:
NB. Check the chain for damage before fitting to the machine.
1 Fit chain.
2 Set the grind angle required.
3 Advance the feed fully forward.
4 Adjust the cutter position.
5 Adjust grind depth.
6 Adjust the chain clamp pressure.
7 Check/set grinding head to chain centre.
8 Determine & set the operating mode.
9 Place the magnet on the chain (low down on side of cutter).
10 Set the required count.
11 Ensure grind angle corresponds to cutter angle
12 Press "START"-- Speed can be increased by holding button in -- decreased with "Inch Rev" Allow to cycle without ‘Grinder’ until satisfied or familiar with the machine’s operation
13 Press ‘GRINDER’ -- The feed will momentarily stop while the grinder motor starts.
14 NB. It is prudent to have the grinding wheel adjusted clear of the teeth when first starting in case of incorrect setup.
15 When satisfied as to correct operation, lower the grinding head to depth and adjust the cutter position to remove a small amount of metal.
16 The machine will continue until the count is finished or the ‘Stop’ button is pushed.
NB: Excessive feed speed may result in inconsistent cutter placement.
The grinder motor is electronically protected against overload or stalling (excessive or misgrinding) . Should this condition occur the machine will shut down. If the overload condition persists, press "STOP" and allow a 1 to 2 minute period before restarting
Before restarting check for:
1. Jammed chain or over tight chain clamp.
2. Loose terminal connections to power supply
3. Loose terminal connections to control module
4. Damaged internal gears
5 Free movement of bevel mechanism
